What Is An Unplayable Lie?
In any golf game you are bound to hit the ball into an area where it is totally unplayable. This is called an unplayable lie. Whenever you hit your ball into an unplayable lie, you have a choice of the following relief options, which will cost you a one-shot penalty:
1. You can drop the ball to within two club lengths of the area where the ball lies, so long as it does not end up being pushed any closer to the hole.
2. You can create a virtual line located between the hole and where the ball is, and drop the ball somewhere on that line (which is back behind its current position). You are allowed to go as far back as you wish, but not closer to the hole.
3. Or you can simply hit the ball as close as you can from where the original shot was made.
